What Is the Basic Rider Course (BRC)?

A Comprehensive Two-Day Motorcycle Safety Course

The BRC is a two-day, in-person training program for beginner riders. It’s built on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum and is approved by Ride Safe Indiana, the state’s official motorcycle safety initiative.

2 Day Course Schedule

Course Schedule Overview

Step 1 – Online E-Course

Before your scheduled class, you’ll receive access to a 5-hour interactive online E-Course.
Complete this on your own time; it must be finished before Day 1 of your in-person session.

Step 2 – In-Person Class Days

  • 2-Day Format: Approximately 6 hours of on-range training each day
  • Start Times: Depend on the location (Fort Wayne or Peru)
  • Snacks Encouraged - bring something to eat during breaks
  • Arrive 15 Minutes Early to ensure you're ready to ride

Gear Requirements for Participation

What Students Need to Bring

To ensure your safety and success, students must arrive with:

  • A State Issued Photo ID: No learners permit or license is required to take this course.
  • E-Course Completion Certificate: The e-course MUST be completed before the first scheduled session.
  • Classroom Documentation: Please print off classroom documentation found in your e-mail confirmation and come with it signed and ready
  • Gear: Students are REQUIRED to bring ALL of the GEAR mentioned above or you will Not Be Permitted to Ride.
  • Rain Gear: Students should check the weather a few days before arrival; classes will continue as scheduled in the event of rain.
    *Loaner helmets are available in sizes XS to XXL.
Students who arrive without all the required gear will not be allowed to ride. This is a strict safety policy and part of our ATGATT (All The Gear, All The Time) standard.

  • Attend all scheduled sessions
  • Complete both classroom and riding exercises
  • Pass the riding evaluation

Payment

  • Full payment of $209 is required at time of scheduling to reserve your spot
  • Out-of-state license holders must pay an additional $130 (total $339)

Refund & Rescheduling Policy

Our certified coaches guide you step-by-step through:

  • No refunds after registration
  • You may reschedule once with $50 fee, as long as it’s at least 2 weeks before your scheduled class

Riders Under 18

  • Parent or guardian must sign an Agreement of Financial Liability at the start of Day 1
  • Youth riders are welcome but must comply with all course and gear requirements.
